Modernized kimono styles are being worn more and more as regular clothing in Tokyo and the fashion industry in Japan is happy to supply the style to young people all over Japan. A newer kimono style that has been around for awhile now is the gyaru/ageha kimono/yukata style: pastles, bright colors, lace, roses, false lashes, and glittering nails.
